Marinized Austin-Rover O-series 2.0 L diesel

The Perkins Prima M50 is the marine version of the belt-driven OHC 1994 cc four Perkins developed from BL's Austin-Rover "O-series" diesel (the Montego/Maestro "MDi" — the O-series petrol block converted to diesel). Perkins's own workshop manual (TPD 0192 1273, Jan 1992) covers the marine Prima, the vehicle Prima and the 500 Series agricultural/industrial engine (e.g. 504-2T) as one engine, so internal service parts are shared with the Perkins 500 Series and are far cheaper through industrial/agricultural channels. The same engine was also sold by Volvo Penta as the MD22. Shared internal/wear parts — timing belt (K614CF03), tensioner (K522DF08), idler (K522DF04), oil filter (2654409), gaskets and core plugs — cross to 500-Series / Austin-Rover / VP MD22 numbers. Marinizing externals (heat exchanger, sea-water pump, exhaust, mountings) are Perkins-marine-specific.
